Today :)

What a busy day at the Farm!
Lot of new and old friends and lot of work well done today.
The peak - visit of dear friends Susan and Jim, hearing stories about Charlie, the mare who served at Spirit and they provided a safe retirement home for her.
At the end of the day, with Sue (Sue takes care of our beloved Tess, another retired Spirit Mare) and Spirit Team of volunteers, few hours of great time with kids.
Thank you all for all you do as members of Spirit Family <3 span="">

Emma says:

Happy Monday!

This week is make-up week at Spirit. This means we won't have our full class sizes, but will likely have a handful of students each night. It's a good opportunity to focus on our volunteers, and especially for new volunteers to come in for training!

On an unrelated note about recording your hours:
1)Thank you to everyone who regularly fills out the red binder! And especially to those volunteers who regularly fill-in hours for other people on their day.

2) You may wonder why I'm such a stickler for recording hours, and put the reminder in every, single email? It's because we need the documentation for local and federal governments. As a non-profit, it's critical we can quantify the support of our community and the importance of volunteers to our organization. Beyond that it gets pretty acronym-filled and finance-y, but the basic gist is: the government asks for the hours, and we supply them so that we can prove we do what we say we do!

3) It's also just a fun metric to keep track of. If you want to know how many hours you've volunteered with Spirit this year (since January, 2014), email me! I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by how quickly the hours add up- I know I was!

Last, but certainly not least: The 4H fair is at Frying Pan this weekend! Some of the Spirit mentors and EAL program students will be showing Spirit horses. It's a fun weekend full of horsemanship, Spirit spirit, carnival food/ rides, adorable farm animals and more! Because of this, Spirit will not be holding weekend volunteer activities; Saturday program activities are cancelled.

Saturday went fine - now another busy week ahead!

Hey, Spirit volunteer Team!
Are we ready for the one more busy week starting tomorrow?
See you 9-11 for Camp and 5-8 for regular therapeutic riding lessons. It is last week of first Summer Class.
Cross fingers for nice weather :)

Hope that this Saturday inspired you as it did it to me....fun Show at the Park, and Spirit riders all over the place. Spirit Team participated in almost all classes, and took more than few ribbons there.

Volunteers introduced dozens of the youngest guests with Spirit horses, offering them safe pony ride during the morning.

Seven riders from our program classes presented their abilities and skills on horses!

Nicole was one of them....see her on Huck, proud and independent :)
